Conditions of admission of articles imported or in transit
2.1 Live animals and animal products

2.1.1 Bees, leeches, silkworms, parasites and predators of insect pests
Importation of bees, leeches, silkworms, parasites and insect pests intended for research is permitted for officially recognized institutions. Items containing bees are subject to sanitary treatment. Atriangular quarantine service stamp must be affixed to the packaging. Depending on the decision of the inspection services, the postal items are either delivered to the addressee, returned tosender or destroyed.
2.1.2 Products of animal origin
Importation of products of animal origin, of homemade sausages, dairy products, fish, eggs and honey is permitted subject to authorization from the State Committee for the Protection of the Environment of the Republic of Tajikistan, together with a phytosanitary certificate authorizing export, endorsed by a triangular stamp.
2.2.1 Seeds, plants and other plant products subject to controls
Importation of small samples of seeds and plant products for planting, sent from abroad by horticultural institutes, botanical gardens and other scientific research organizations, is permittedfor the purpose of scientific experimentation, subject to the authorization of the State Committee for the Protection of the Environment of the Republic of Tajikistan. A triangular quarantineservice stamp must be affixed to the packaging of such mail items.
Anti-parasite products for agricultural use are permitted subject to permission from the Ministry of
Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
2.7 Narcotics Importation of narcotic and psychotropic substances is permitted only with the authorization of the competent bodies of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic ofTajikistan.
2.8 Pharmaceutical products
2.11 Books, brochures, newspapers, printed matter
Pharmaceutical products, medicines and vitamin preparations require the authorization of the competent bodies of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Books, newspapers, magazines and other printed matter are admitted freely provided that they contain no articles or reproductions of a vulgar or erotic nature that might be detrimental to thepolicy and economy of the Republic of Tajikistan or infringe human rights.
2.15 War material War material is subject to authorization by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Musical instruments and parts and accessories of such articles are subject to authorization by the
Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Cash and other values are subject to authorization by the financial institutions of the Republic of
Tajikistan and the bodies governing external economic relations.

Customs provisions
Two copies of the CN 23 Customs declaration, completed by the sender, must be attached to each postal item (small packet, parcel).
Postal items with a market value must be accompanied by receipts and dockets issued against presentation of an appropriate licence.
Documents issued by foreign authorities or public organizations (chambers of commerce) must be countersigned by Consuls of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Goods with a value not exceeding 100 USD may be imported without the collection of Customs duty. Cumbersome and fragile parcels are admitted if sent by surface mail.
The maximum insured value for letter-post items is 1000 SDR.
Articles subject to Customs duty must not be sent in ordinary or registered letters.
Articles prohibited for import into the Republic of Tajikistan which are incorrectly described or omitted altogether from the CN 23 Customs declaration are liable to be seized.
Articles permitted for import into the Republic of Tajikistan which are included in postal items but not listed in the CN 23 Customs declaration are subject to Customs duty.
The following steps may be taken where imported postal items contain prohibited articles:
ÿ only the prohibited goods are seized; the rest of the item is passed on to the addressee;
ÿ the item is returned to the country of origin; or
ÿ the item is seized in full.
It is prohibited to send in transit via the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan any articles prohibited for import into the country.
