· Prohibited items – items whose import into the country is prohibited.
· Items admitted conditionally – items whose importation into the country is allowed with the term if a document issued by the relevant authorities of the exporting country is presented.
· Items admitted without conditions – items whose import into the country is allowed.

Conditions of admission of articles imported or in transit
2.1 Animals and animal products
2.1.1 Bees, leeches, silkworms
2.1.2 Animal products
Bees, leeches and silkworms may be imported on presentation of a special authorization issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and on the conditions laid down therein.
Animal products may be imported subject to a production of a health certificate issued and signed by the appropriate livestock or fisheries service.
2.1.3 Foodstuffs Products of animal origin intended for consumption by humans or by animals may be imported subject to authorization of their being used for consumption withinthe framework of the quality and measures control carried out by the Directorate of Domestic Commerce attesting that the products are suitable for consumption andsatisfy the required quality and packaging standards.
2.2 Plants and plant products
2.2.1 Live plants and flower-growing products
2.3 Anti-parasite products for agricultural use
Plant products may be imported subject to production of a phytosanitary certificate issued by the appropriate agricultural services (Directorate of Agriculture).
The import of fertilizers and anti-parasite products for agricultural use is subject to authorization from the Ministry of Agriculture.
2.4.1 Vehicles No importation restrictions. However, production of a certificate of technical roadworthiness is required on registration for:
– saloon cars over 5 years old;
– light vehicles over 8 years old;
– heavy vehicles over 13 years old.
2.7 Narcotics Narcotics for pharmaceutical use may be imported subject to authorization from the Ministry of Public
Health.

Pharmaceutical products may be imported subject to due authorization from the National Pharmacy Directorate in the form of a stamp on the invoices or any other dispatch document. Thisstamp certifies that the medicaments comply with the standards provided for by the appropriate Public Health authorities.
Firearms and ammunition may be imported only with the authorization from the Ministry of the
Interior.
Cinematographic films may be imported with the authorization of the Ministry of Communications (SIDEC). The importation of records or pre-recorded cassettes is subject to permission from the Senegal Copyright Office (Ministry of Culture).
Mineral products and industrial equipment may be imported subject to authorization from the Ministry of Mines and Industry.
Within the framework of our financial relations, gold may be imported or exported subject to authorization from the Ministry of Finance.
The marketing of second-hand clothes is subject to the presentation of a health certificate.

Customs declarations must contain all the information necessary for the application of duties, taxes and control measures on both importation and exportation. Specifically they must state:
– the names, first names and addresses of the consignors and consignees;
– the value of the goods;
– the net weight;
– a description of the goods contained in the item.
Goods consignments must always be accompanied by an invoice, except for items with no com- mercial value sent to charities and others
