· Items admitted conditionally – items whose importation into the country is allowed with the term if a document issued by the relevant authorities of the exporting country is presented.
· Items admitted without conditions – items whose import into the country is allowed.

Note. – The importation of unpasteurised dairy produce, other than butter or cheese, produced in countries where tropical diseases exist is prohibited.
Chapter 5 Products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included

05.01-10 All the products of the present chapter, depending on their nature and origin: importation of these products is limited or regulated by the MIDA (Animal HealthDirectorate) and the Ministry of Health. In all cases, a sanitary certificate from the country of origin is required.
Section II Vegetable products
Chapter 6 Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage

06.01-04 The importation of live trees and other plants, flower bulbs and cut flowers is prohibited where these products carry tropical diseases.
Products of plant propagation, plants and plant products may be imported for scientific or experimental purposes, so long as their importation is supervised by the Ministryof Agricultural Development and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
As a general rule, all the products of the present chapter must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate from the country of origin indicating the fungicide, nematicideor insecticide treatment the product has undergone, and be free of earth.
Chapter 7 Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers

07.01-14 The importation of all the products of the present chapter, depending on their nature and origin, is limited or regulated when these products carry tropical diseases.
At the time of their importation, all these products must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate from the country of origin indicating the fungicide,nematicide or insecticide treatment the product has undergone, and be free of earth.
The appropriate tests are carried out by the Ministry of Agricultural Development, the Agricultural

Chapter 8 Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons

08.01-14 The importation of all fresh or dried fruits, depending on their nature and origin, is limited or regulated when these products carry tropical diseases.
The importation of these products is subject to presentation of a phytosanitary certificate from the country of origin and their approval by the Ministry of AgriculturalDevelopment (plant quarantine), the Agricultural Product Marketing Office and the Institute of Agricultural Research.
Chapter 9 Coffee, tea, maté and spices

09.01-10 All these products may be imported without restriction, apart from coffee, importation of which is limited in some cases. At the time of importation, these products must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate from the country of origin, indicating the treatment they have undergone. Chapter 10 Cereals

Chapter 12 Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruit; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder

The appropriate tests are carried out by the Ministry of Health (food producttesting and veterinary testing), the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Agricultural Development.
16.04-05 Products under these headings must conform to the requirements set out above and, in the case of preparations and conserves in hermetically sealed packages, beinspected at the time of importation by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (Directorate of Maritime Resources).
Chapter 17 Sugars and sugar confectionery

As regards such products intended for medical use, importation is duly supervised by the Ministry of
Health (Department of Pharmaceutical Products and Drugs).
30.03-06 The importation of all the products of the present chapter must be duly supervised by the Ministry of Health (Pharmaceutical products and drugs directorate and Foodproduct testing and veterinary testing department), and by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Generally speaking, it is prohibited to import contaminated, denatured or adulterated pharmaceutical specialities and therapeutic substances officially declared as such bythe Ministry of Health. The importation of these products is, moreover, subject to the issue of a special licence by the said Ministry. This import licence is only valid forpharmaceutical specialities in receptacles with a bigger capacity than that of the packages sold to the public, to hospitals and to public services in general.
