Definition of Terms
· Prohibited items – items whose import into the country is prohibited.
· Items admitted conditionally – items whose importation into the country is allowed with the term if a document issued by the relevant authorities of the exporting country is presented.
· Items admitted without conditions – items whose import into the country is allowed.

Bees may be imported on presentation of a veterinary certificate issued by the competent authority of the country of origin. Natural honey is subject on import to a health inspection by aveterinary inspector in an authorized customs office. However, consignments of natural honey up to 2 kg dispatched by postal parcel and of no commercial value are exempted from allhealth formalities.
Leeches
2.1.2 Products of animal origin intended for consumption by humans or by livestock.
I. Import of such products is authorized subject to compliance with current hygiene regulations, viz:
– satisfactory hygiene inspection carried out by a veterinary inspector in an authorized customs office and attested by a health certificate;
– submission of a veterinary certificate and of a certificate of quality issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin.
II. When in frontier-to-frontier transit without breaking of load, these products are exempt from all the health formalities laid down under § I.
These products must be examined on import by an official responsible for plant protection and be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued in the country of origin (see attached model (annex 1)).
Special cases
Special provisions relating to the prevention of the introduction of specified diseases and parasites (eg: Erwinia amylovara, Troquoderma granatium EV, Ceratitis Capitata Wied) result in theprohibition on imports of certain products from all or certain countries, by the introduction of more restrictive measures. The import of herbariums is prohibited.
Import of these products is authorized only if they are intended for research and for exchanges between scientific institutions. Presentation of phytosanitary certificates is essential.
Up to 2 litres of wine per parcel and up to 1 litre of spirits per parcel may be imported.
2.5 Tobacco Private persons may import up to 200 cigarettes or cigars per parcel without paying customs duty.
2.6 Mineral oils Nil.
2.7 Narcotics The import of narcotics, preparations and pharmaceutical specialities containing narcotics is subject to authorization issued by the Pharmaceutical and MedicalEquipment Department of the Ministry of Health (see annexes 2 to 4). Medicaments and other products used in medical treatment. The import of medicaments and other products used in medical treatment is subject to prior authorization granted either by the Ministryof Health (Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Department: 277028 CHISINAU, Hincesti Street 1, REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA), or by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (VeterinaryService: 277012
CHISINAU, bd Stefan cel Mare 162).
Contraceptives
Contraceptives, other than medicaments and condoms, may be imported only by companies or bodies which have been granted approval by the Ministry of Health. Contraceptives which are deemed to be medicaments are subject to the regulations covering medicaments (see paragraph above).
Import of all these articles is authorized in insured parcels provided they are duly mentioned in the customs declaration.
2.15 War matériel The import of war matériel, gunpowder and explosives is subject to presentation of a Ministry of the
Interior permit.
Hunting and sporting guns require a Ministry of the Interior permit; other arms require a Ministry of
Defence permit.
Part III:
Special provisions, Customs and other

3.5 Provisions on infringements
Customs declarations must contain all the information necessary for the application of duties, taxes and control measures on both import and export. The declaration must be written in Romanian, French, Russian or English.
If the postal item is commercial in character, it must be accompanied by a commercial invoice inserted in the parcel together with the customs declaration. If the value of the contentdoes not exceed 2000 USD, there is no need to insert invoices.
The origin of the goods must be attested if their value exceeds 2000 USD.
All goods imported into Moldova must be declared to the Customs and customs declarations must be scrupulously accurate. Postal items received with false customs declarations are liable toconfiscation by the Customs authorities.
All items should include the addressee's mobile phone number, if it’s possible.
